Dear Parents,
After a summer lull, the H1N1 flu virus has now returned to the Portland area. As you may know, few of us under the age of 65 have immunity against H1N1. Epidemiologists estimate that one-third of the region’s population could become ill with the H1N1 flu this season if we do not act to prevent the spread of H1N1.

October is my favorite month. I love autumn, but I especially love Halloween. Last year, we’d just moved into a new house and had no idea how many trick-or-treaters would knock on our door. What if I get this new virus and I am pregnant?
We do know that pregnant women are more likely to get sick than others and have more serious problems with seasonal flu. These problems may include early labor or severe pneumonia. We believe this virus will do the same, and it should be taken very seriously. We do not know how this virus will affect the baby.
