Founded in 1947 by a Harvard-educated physician whose daughter was born deaf, The Tucker-Maxon School has provided exceptional educational opportunities for both deaf/hard of hearing who do not use sign language and normal hearing children. Hearing and deaf students learn together in small intimate classrooms taught by master level teachers. Full time audiologists, speech therapists, early intervention specialists provide additional daily support for deaf students. Since 1997, Veritas School has been part of a growing movement to recover the rich liberal arts tradition in education. Our classical methodology uses teaching methods that work together with the development of children, emphasizing the mastery of basic facts and skills in younger grades, critical thinking in the middle years, and communication/evaluation skills in the upper grades. Classes include Latin, Logic, and Formal Rhetoric. All subjects are taught as parts of an integrated whole, with God and His Word at the center. Our goal is to give students the important tools of learning and because of this, our SAT scores rank in the top 14%, over 300 points above the state average.
