It’s been two years in the making, but this week Portland Public Schools Superintendent Carole Smith unveiled her plan for a comprehensive high school redesign. The plan is not yet set in stone – in a press release Smith writes, “We have proposed specific performance metrics and targets for improvement, and look forward to refining and adopting those with the school board. We also hope that you will continue to participate in this conversation.”
Some of the basics of the plan include:
- Designate eight community schools (Cleveland, Franklin, Grant, Jefferson, Lincoln, Madison, Roosevelt & Wilson) with new attendance boundaries for all but Wilson and Roosevelt. More…
