What’s in Season? Farmers Markets!

Farmers Markets are a great way to teach kids where their food comes from and support local farmers – all in the name of a fun family outing! No matter where you live, there’s sure to be a farmers market nearby, offering everything from produce, meat, fish and cheese to baked goods, flowers, local honey and more. Plus, most feature live music and other kid-friendly entertainment options. The Portland Farmers Market even offers kids cooking classes and a printable scavenger hunt activity (scroll down to download the scavenger hunt) to make the experience more fun and educational for young market goers.

To find the farmers market nearest you – or to find farmers markets in other parts of the area – check out the directory at oregonfarmersmarkets.org. Most are already open, but be sure to check dates and times on the website. (For Vancouver, Wash., farmers markets, visit vancouverfarmersmarket.com.)
