It’s “Take a Child Outside Week” (through Sept. 30). When I first read about this national movement – based in North Carolina but with participants around the country – I thought that the last week of September might not be the ideal time to schedule an effort to get children outdoors. But, as the week approached, I’ve come around.

Yup, this is our very first “Parent 2 Parent” blog posting. We realize that we’ve been late to jump on the “blog wagon” – we hope that doesn’t mean that you won’t give us a chance. We plan to include the same high quality content here that you’ve grown accustomed to in Metro Parent, the big difference being that your participation is encouraged and, indeed, required.

Our purposes for implementing our “Parent 2 Parent” blog are two-fold: One is to allow our bloggers to wax eloquent on hot parenting topics, from diapering discussions to college finance woes – and everything in between. And we want YOU to weigh in whenever you have an opinion.

The other is to serve as a forum for our readers to ask questions of the area’s parenting community. You can go to Ask (or Tell) Metro Parent and send us your inquiries, whatever they may be.

We’ll be here for you. We hope that’s a two-way street…
